Sunday 16th August

I had a mother and daughter who arrived after a long 7-hour journey from Cornwall on Saturday.  The mother was not sure if she was dead or alive after the journey, saying her daughter was too fast a driver.  These is not an uncommon meet and greet reception between couples either…

I encouraged them to come and sit in the garden, I made them a strong pot of tea and they started to unwind.  They had been with me before last year so I gently organised them and also offered the mother a cup of my herbal tea that would put her right, as she wasn’t feeling 100%.  It certainly did the trick and she had another one before she went to bed, visibly more relaxed.  Where would you find that in a hotel in London….?

My assistant had returned after a two-week break, newly engaged and looking radiant.  We decided to go out for lunch to celebrate and went to the local Italian down the road.  The food was authentic from Naples, the home of the pizza.  I tried a pasta and potato dish, which was hearty and perfectly cooked.  We chatted to the the owners and I found out that it is run by two cousins, their respective wives and a Romanian waitress.  It has the warmth and soul of a family run business, something I think is very important in today’s society.
